Welcome to our region site. Located in the rolling hills of SouthWest Missouri and centered generally around Springfield, Missouri, Ozark Lakes Region includes Barry, Barton, Camden, Cedar, Christian, Dade, Dallas, Douglas, Greene, Hickory, Howell, Jasper, Laclede, Lawrence, McDonald, Miller, Newton, Oregon, Ozark, Polk, Pulaski, Stone, Taney, Texas, Vernon, Webster, and Wright counties. The club has the opportunity to travel miles and miles of scenic and curvey roads. This allows ample time for members to enjoy what these cars were designed for. Is there anything better than that?

Some of the activities we do are Breakfast/Dinner Runs, Tours, AutoCrosses, and Rallys. Breakfast and dinner runs are club organized drives to a predetermined location following particularly good roads. "Good" here means twisty! We usually pick a well known restaurant, store, tourist site, or just about anyplace to drive to as the target. We typically have a Spring and Fall Tour. The fall event is called "Flaming Fall". This is truely one of the last of the "multi-event" functions hosted by PCA regions. This three-day event includes a Friday Welcoming Party and then a Concours, Rally, AutoCross, Evening Banquet, and Awards Banquet. It is held in October to take advantage of the beautiful fall colors. Come and join us for this wonderful weekend.

And if you like lots's of AutoCrossing, The local SCCA club, Ozark Mountain Region,  has a full slate of autocross for PCA members to participate. Are you interested in seeing what it takes to set up a t-s-d rally? It's kind of complicated but a member has developed two excel spreadsheets to help you. Check them out

President's Message July 2008   Editor's Message July 2008

Good day one and all,

Although this has been a very wet first half of the year; the good news is
Summer is here and in between showers I like to drop the top and drive.

Thanks to all who attended the June meeting at Springfield Porsche. The dealership staff were so impressed with how well the event came off; they have asked about doing it again.  I will work out a date.  For those who missed it,  Jon Setina and David Christiano were the trivia winners. Mr. Edward Jude from Porsche Cars of North America attended and answered questions. There were product and service demonstrations. There were door prizes and service certificates for the winners and factory posters for all.

On Saturday the 14th,  we toured down into Arkansas. We scheduled to meet at the Porsche dealership ( Jill and I were late, but that's normal ). Three of the dealership's salesmen (  Joe,  Drew and  Justin ) thought it was great that  Jill,  Cara  and Renee were driving the tour and the guys were riding shotgun.  Weather was perfect.  The roads were twisty.  The food was good.  The wine was better.  And on Sunday,  we stopped at the Pea Ridge Military Museum and toured.

See you at the July 9th dinner meeting at Cafe Roswitha for German food.
Remember – it’s the pedal on the right.

First I would like to Thank Mike Still and Justin Horning of Springfield Imports (Porsche) for hosting the Dinner meeting. The pizza was excellent and the challenge questions for the door prizes most unusual. We were also treated to an interesting demonstration of the wheel balancing technique by XACT Balance. Chris had two wheels done and it will be interesting to get his feedback on the results. They also gave a demonstration on a product to remove carbon build-up from your engine called 44K by BG Products — I will be trying this. Great evening. Besides we got to drool over some great looking cars.

Remember to check out pictures of Parade held in Charlotte, NC on June 29th at the following web site: www.charlotteparade.org.

Hope to see all of you at next month’s meetings. If you have articles, photos or anything you might think would be of interest please send them for the newsletter. Appreciate it.

Hope you like the new format of the newsletter. It was time for a change.

Till next time Be Safe  -  Shannon
